The body of soloist Black Sabbath will be brought back for a procession that will cross Broad Street, in the center of Birmingham, starting at 1:00 pm (15:00 – Romania time). A DRIC will go to the Bank and Bridge Black Sabbath, where thousands of fans have left messages and flowers as a tribute, reports the BBC.
Osbourne died at the age of 76 on July 22. His death occurred less than three weeks after participating, together with his colleagues in the band, at the farewell concert of the Black Sabbath band – “Back to the Beginning”.
“We will pay a last tribute and bring our respect to one of the greatest legends of Birmingham”, Stated the mayor of Birmingham, Zafar Iqbal.
The event, which takes place before a private funeral, will give the artist’s family the opportunity to see the many memories that his loyal fans have left with flowers and tributes, the local authorities said.
Local musicians “Bostin ‘Brass” will accompany the procession.
Describing it as a “son of Birmingham“, Mayor Iqbal added:”He put Birmingham on the map. He put the Aston (neighborhood of the city no) on the map”.
The mayor also claimed that the city was proud to host the event, he said, and added that he was grateful for the family for offering to pay for him to take place.
“Broad Street” will be closed to traffic on Wednesday starting at 07:00 BST (9:00 Romanian time), trams and buses being diverted throughout the day.
Osbourne and his colleagues from the band Black Sabbath, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler, received the title of honorary citizens in June, before the farewell concert.
The fans and members of the public who want to present their tributes can also visit the Museum and Art Gallery in Birmingham, where a condolence register is opened, along with the Ozzy Working Class Hero exhibition, inaugurated last month by Sharon Osbourne.
Other tributes in the city include the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street, Ozzy The Bull at New Street Station and the pub, a recently classified building as a historical monument, worldwide as the birthplace of the Heavy Metal, where Black Sabbath sang for the first time in 1968.
Ali Zaman, who lives in Osbourne’s former house in Lodge Road, Aston, has created a special e-mail address for fans to send messages. His parents bought the property from Osbourne’s father.
Ozzy Osbourne spoke, in a 2011 interview, about how her funeral would like to show.
“It will not be about dark memories. Many people only see unhappiness all their lives, so if we look realistically, most of us – especially rockers like me – we are very lucky. That’s why I don’t want my funeral to be sad, but a moment when the world will say” thank you “, said Ozzy for The Times in 2011.
