The governing coalition decided, according to political sources quoted by Digi24, to create a new position of deputy secretary general within the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG). Thus, the total number of deputy general secretaries will reach three, compared to two they are today.
This change aims to ensure the representation of each party in the coalition, PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR, within an essential structure for the functioning of the government. SGG is the institution that approves all the projects that go through the executive, whether it is decisions, ordinances or other administrative acts. In addition, it coordinates several important institutions and companies.
Distributing functions between parties
The quoted sources specify that the parties will be represented in the SGG:
- The PSD continues to hold the position of Secretary General of the Government, a position occupied by Radu Oprea.
- PNL has a position of deputy secretary general, held by Cristina Traila.
- USR and UDMR are also going to receive a position of deputy secretary general, the appointments to be set.
Following this reorganization, the PSD loses a position in the SGG structure, as it has two representatives: Radu Oprea and Adrian Țuțuianu, who is one of the deputy general secretaries.
Institutions under the SGG subordination
The General Secretariat of the Government coordinates important institutions such as RAAPPS, the National Agency for Public Procurement (ANAP), the Office of the National Register of Secret State Information (ORNISS), but also state companies such as Transgaz or Transelectrica.
Wages and benefits
According to the official list for 2024, the monthly gross salaries for these functions are as follows:
- Secretary General of the Government – 24,150 lei gross/month
- Deputy Secretary General – 16,640 gross/month
These amounts do not include bonuses or other benefits.
The proposal to set up the third deputy secretary general will be discussed in the next government meeting.
