The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Romanians who are or are to travel to Portugal in the next period on the extremely vegetation risk, especially in the central and northern regions of the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has issued a travel warning for Portugal, as a result of the increased risk of vegetation fires, especially in the central and northern areas of the Portuguese territory. The warning is valid between July 30 and August 7, 2025, when, according to the local authorities, the weather conditions favor the rapid outbreak and extension of fire outbreaks.
According to the information transmitted by the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and atmosphere (IPMA), a maximum red risk code was issued in the continental Portugal, which means that the danger is imminent and requires increased vigilance from the population and tourists.
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends to the Romanian citizens who are already in Portugal or who intend to travel there during the period mentioned permanently pursuing the official sources of information.
These include the website of the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), available at https://www.ipma.pt/en/criscoincendio/rcm.pt/, as well as the platform of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, accessible to https://prociv.gov.pt/p/home/, where the daily risk and protection maps can be consulted.

The calls made to the last two numbers are automatically redirected to the contact center and support of Romanian citizens from abroad (CCSCRS), which operate non-stop and is served by specialized operators.
