The scandals were direct and unequivocal: “David, resignation!”, “The liar!”, “David – the terrorist of education!”. The trade unionists warn that, in the absence of a real dialogue, they will block not only the baccalaureate examination, but also the beginning of the school year.
The protest takes place on the day when the first fiscal package of the Government entered into force, which has amplified social tensions.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Daniel David, gave up appearing in the weekly report on Thursday, broadcast on Facebook.
The only official reaction came on July 31, through a statement published on the ministry’s website, in which the minister states “directly” there is no money for the full payment of salaries and scholarships until the end of the year.
The autumn baccalaureate, at the closer step
Education trade unionists point out that if the Government does not give up the measures imposed by Law 141/2025, there is a risk that the autumn session of the baccalaureate cannot be organized. The trade union organizations in several counties have already transmitted that the teaching activities are blocked, and a generalized boycott is in preparation.
More hours, more students, fewer money
The teachers protest against the increase of the two -hour teaching norm, the increase of the number of students in the class, but also to the decrease of the income. Many teachers who completed their wages with overtime will lose this money, and others risk running out of job, starting August 31, they accuse.
The decreases are felt acute among those in rural areas, where school merits are already underway. In addition to the financial issues, the protesters also denounced the institutional censorship applied to the Institute of Education Sciences, an essential structure for public educational policies.
September 8: School does not start in classes but in Victoriei Square
According to the calendar announced by unions, the protests started on Wednesday, July 30, will continue daily, until August 6, between 10:00 and 12:00 in front of the Ministry of Education. After August 6, the protests are to be resumed, every Wednesday, until September 8.
On the day when the school year should begin, the peak of movement could take place -a national protest. The unions announce that thousands of teachers from all over the country will not go to classes, but will manifest in Victoriei Square and in front of the Cotroceni Palace.
