According to CFR SA, during the summer, in the context of high temperatures, dozens of trains running on the 500 bus record delays caused by both the status of the railways and the failures on the route to locomotives or wagons.

“On the 500 bus, there are currently a number of 22 speed restrictions, these being caused by the improper state of the railway superstructure. The trains running on the Bucharest – Vereşti – Suceava/Botoşani and returning relationships and which have registered delays in the course: IR 1655 (IR 1656), IR 1751 (IR 1754, 551 (IC 552) and IR 1653 (IR 1654). The speed restrictions were established in June, based on the weather warnings, considering that the temperatures can reach up to 57 degrees Celsius.

“During the summer season, speed limitations are established annually as a result of the temperature increase in the rail. In 2025, these limitations were introduced on the 500 bus starting with June 15, according to the weather warnings transmitted by the National Meteorological Administration. Thus, on the days when the temperature reaches 36 ° C and 57 ° C, it is necessary to reduce the speed of trains from an average of 80 km/h to 50 km/h, between 14:00 – 18:00. high temperatures ”informs the National Railway Company.

To reduce the temperature in the train rails, so that the dilation effect is mitigated, CFR takes into account their painting or white. The method is used in some countries of the European Union, it is experienced by the CF Timisoara regional and according to the results could be extended at the level of some bus in Romania.
