The hard reality of the state hospitals. After they are sick, patients are sent to private clinics, although they can benefit from free services in that hospital

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, draws attention to unacceptable practices in the public medical system, where patients are sometimes redirected to private offices under false pretexts, for services that should be free.

“In Romania, a simple truth must be known by everyone: the public hospital has the obligation to treat patients. Unfortunately, we have received numerous signals that the patients are told that” there are no places “,” the ceiling is over “,” CT/MRI is broken “,” the laboratory does not work “or that” there are no conditions ” – and they are for free.

This practice is unacceptable and unworthy. I said firmly and I repeat: the medical activity in private is carried out after the program in the Public Hospital, not in its place and not to the detriment of the patients.

I do not want to understand each other wrong, I do not generalize! In the state hospitals there are wonderful people, who keep this system on their shoulders and do everything in their power to help. But there are exceptions, and they do not do us well! ”, Minister Alexandru Rogobete wrote on Facebook.

The Minister of Health announces drastic measures against these abusive practices

In order to combat these abuses, the Ministry of Health will provide, starting September 1, an online form through which patients can report such situations, and the notifications will be analyzed and verified in collaboration with CNAS, to apply sanctions where appropriate.

“We have decided a concrete measure: from September 1, on the website of the Ministry of Health an online form will be available for reporting such situations. Any patient who has been abusively redirected to a private office will be able to report: the hospital where, the doctor involved, the indicated private office, the costs imposed.

These notifications will be analyzed by a common control of the Ministry of Health and CNAS, so that each case is verified and sanctioned.

As a Minister of Health, I cannot ask people in the system if we do not show them respect. Patients deserve correct treatment, dignity and care – not humility and financial pressures ”, the Minister of Health said.

The minister emphasizes that this measure aims not only to protect the rights of patients, but also to support the correct doctors, who carry out their activity with professionalism and respect for people.

“I assume this change with my team, no matter how hard it may be and no resistance. He ended the message of the Health.
