Minister Daniel David’s team includes prominent figures from the academic and research. Among the councilors are Mircea Dumitru, former Minister of Education and the current vice-president of the Romanian Academy, Patriciu Achimaș-Cadariu, former Minister of Health, but also international renowned personalities, such as Sergiu Pasca, professor at Stanford University, and Ovidiu Androni, associate professor at Harvard University, according to Harvard.

Critics claim that, despite this extended team, the situation in education is tense: the teachers are on strike and threatens to boycott the opening of the new school year. In the past, Daniel David’s honorary counselors were also part of Dragoș Anastasiu, known for the controversy related to unofficial payments to an ANAF official.

The school year 2025–2026 is threatened by a tense debut, against the background of the open conflict between the Ministry of Education and the unions. This is after the latter announced clearly and sparked that the school will not start on September 8, the official date set by the school year calendar.
After nine days of demonstrations, the negotiations between Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the Minister of Education Daniel David and the representatives of the union federations failed. The members of the main unions in education gathered again, on Tuesday, August 12, in front of the Ministry of Education, being the tenth day when they vocalize their dissatisfaction.
