The management of a section is not an honorary title, but a continuous responsibility and still a large one, says Alexandru Rogobete, the Minister of Health, according to which the department heads will be evaluated periodically.

“A hospital is healthy when its sections function properly. Beyond modern buildings and state -of -the -art equipment, the essence of medical quality lies in organizing each section, in the way the team is coordinated and in the respect shown to patients. According to the Minister of Health, the university quality can no longer be the only recommendation to become the head of the section.

“It is a normality that we have to bring back to hospitals. We know that not always the greatest in the university degree is the best leader. We recognize this truth and change together the way of occupying the management positions. We eliminate the formal competitions, where two or three articles of law, and introduce minimum criteria, and continuous criteria. I know the resistance is high, but together we can do well. It is obvious, with all the goodwill I have, that things can no longer continue like that and we have to put an end to a habit that only worked to the advantage of somesays the minister.

My message is firm: Section chiefs can no longer remain in inertia. They must be active, professional and responsible leaders. This measure means more organized hospitals, more efficient sections and, finally, better treated patients. ”
