A parent who advocates for the depoliticization of education urges parents to boycott the beginning of the school year in which politicians participate. The teachers are in turn confused, oscillating between the boycott of the festivities and the trigger of the strike.

“I hope that this year – on September 8 – there will be no festivities of any kind, in protest against the politicians who have misled Romanian education! If, however, such events will take place, as president of the Association for the depoliticization of education and the founder of the group “Parents of students in Romania”, I urge parents to boycott any opening of the school year in which politicians will participate. In which way? By non -participation (if the presence of politicians is announced) or by withdrawal, discreet and elegant, from the event if the participation of those is not announced, but takes place. Without the election campaign at the opening of the school year, without political speeches in the courts of the schools! ”, proposed Zeno Sustac.
Through this gesture parents could sanction irresponsible educational policies of the last 35 years, Sustac believes. The father considers “sinister shows” the festivities in which the politicians are focused on public money, urging their parents not to honor such manifestations with their presence. “The school is about work, sacrifices and seriousness, not about turns, privileges and shortcuts. The empty words and the vain promises do not raise the level of Romanian education, on the contrary, I keep the school in a political prison. ” It draws the attention of Sustac, reminding some of the effects of the measures adopted this summer: scholarship cuts, agglomeration of classes, upsetting the world of education and humiliation of teachers. “To do well to understand that the potholes of education are not welcome at the opening of the school year in the educational units”, Sustac notes.
The representative of the Association for Depoliticization of Education believes that if the parents and the teacher will be solidarity in this approach “will be transmitted”A consistent, coherent, powerful and assumed message. ”
“Somewhere in 50,000 extra students will do simultaneous education”
Zeno Sustac reminds that the fiscal-budgetary measures adopted this summer have affected not only the teachers’ chairs, but also the quality of education. In a county, Sustac specified for “Adevărul”, over 300 classes will operate simultaneously. At the national level, however, there are tens of thousands of students.
“After a summary calculation, somewhere to at least 50,000 extra students who will do simultaneously, that is, they will go to school, but they will not stay with much. (…) Do you know what I want? I wish that at a school, two, three, five in Romania, it is enough to happen, and this will be registered, the politicians will be sent for parents, but at home. Not to step there, to beat their cheek. Because I take all kinds of measures from these headless, without thinking in the long term and seriously what effects such movements produce and after wine and tell, empty words, how beautiful it will be, when they actually destroy. It is the need for a message from the parents that I can’t do anything. ” said Sustac.
Even if parents and teachers are not always on the same side of the barricade, for the few things that work in education, solidarity is necessary, Sustac believes.
“There are also teachers who do wonders. And for them we have to be there. Because now teachers are lost on the road and students are lost on the road. The school dropout will blossom on the proposed structure of the schools, with the transport of students in point B, with this school transport network that exists on paper, but in reality everything is problematic. From modest families, parents will tell children as follows :. The teachers are also debated. Most have interrupted their holidays because at the level of the schools the classches have been restored, some have already gone through the time-reunification procedure, but about the protest forms are still waiting for signals from the union leaders.
On the groups on social networks they wonder if there are schools where the consultation of what to do.

The representative unions in education picket the headquarters of the Ministry of Education for several weeks, and protests are announced for the whole period, including for September 8, the first day of school. Despite these protests, the measures drawn by the MEC, by orders by the minister, have already been implemented in schools, leading to activity restrictions, school units, class combinations and the increase in the number of classes in which it will be taught simultaneously.
