In Brașov, a so-called conference entitled “Covid-19 & bio-Digital convergence” has aroused harsh reactions from the authorities and the medical community, being cataloged as a pseudo-scientific manifestation that promotes conspiracy theories and dangerous misinformation. The Ministry of Health and the College of Physicians in Romania warns that such events undermine confidence in science and endanger public health, announcing firm measures against the doctors involved.
At the Conference held in Brasov, presented as a medical debate, speakers addressed topics such as “The explosion of post-vaccination cancers”, “Children who die because of the Covid vaccine” and the idea of a “Global conspiracies by vaccination”.
Among those who support such theories are doctors with functions in public hospitals. This is the case of a primary radiology-imagistic doctor, coordinator of the radiology laboratory at the Clinical Hospital in Brasov.
The event also attends Răzvan Constantinescu, primary gastroenterologist and internal medicine in Iași, head of works at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Also, Geanina Hagima, a doctor of obstetrics-gynecology in Bucharest, a dermatovenerology doctor from Onești, Tatiana Uruioc, neurologist and coordinator of the Neurology Department at the hospital in Buhuși, but also Argentina Tudor, psychologist from Arad.
“We find out with concern that today there is a so-called conference, in fact a” pseudo-scientific “manifestation, in relation to everything that means public health, the health system and what the medical profession must represent.
By traveling the titles of the sessions in this manifestation we consider that they are not related to medicine, nor with science.
We believe that both participants and readers of such a public manifestation should know that debated notions are blatantly contradictory with all scientific discoveries, based on modern medicine, which could be a scientific and medical false.
The misinformation and spread of scientific fakes or unfounded rumors on any records are likely to diminish confidence in science and professionals. Propagating this information among the population is a huge risk to public health.
Infectious diseases and their prevention are a medical field that has benefited major from the medical discoveries of the last century, and the vaccination has prevented millions of deaths among children and adults, since the discovery of the phenomenon of vaccine.
We draw attention to the fact that this manifestation, including through titles and thematic, is contrary to any medical, scientific and ethical principles and could have as a consequence the serious danger of public health.
We consider that the doctors with the right of free practice must rigorously respect the medical and ethical principles that must guide their activity ” He transmitted the Romanian College of Physicians through a press release.
Minister Alexandru Rogobete asks all the subordinate institutions to take emergency measures against the doctors who launch “a direct attack on the health of the Romanians”
“Medical misinformation is a direct attack on the health of the Romanians. I do not negotiate with the lie and I will not allow anyone to undermine the confidence of patients in modern treatments.
Today, in Brasov, a conference was held without any scientific basis, where dangerous lies against modern medical treatments were promoted. I categorically condemn these manifestations that endanger the lives of patients and undermine confidence in medicine and state institutions.
I ask professional societies to analyze through the ethics committees the behavior of the doctors who choose to spread fakes in the public space, including through “pseudoconferences” emptied of any scientific content. They extend the request including to the Romanian College of Physicians to take emergency measures. It is a time when the medical body must form its own antibodies, firmly sanctioning any deviation from the responsibility of doctors towards the truth and towards the patients. In the face of manipulation, there is no neutrality.
It is intolerable that such untruths are propagated by people who bear the title of doctors. The oath of patients means truth and science, not manipulation and conspiracies.
I take the opportunity and send a direct message to the public opinion: Do not let yourself be manipulated! Inform yourself from credible and natural sources that do not have a hidden agenda behind. Life and health always have priority in front of fake-down and imposture ” Minister Alexandru Rogobete said.
Experts point out that the spread of such false information is not only a matter of opinion, but a direct risk to public health. In a society where confidence in doctors and treatments is vital, conspiracy speeches can lead to the refusal of vaccination, abandoning the correct therapies and, implicitly, to endanger the lives of thousands of patients.
The head of the Romanian College of Physicians has requested legislative changes to sanction the doctors who spread the conspiracy theories
“A pseudo-scientific conference in Brasov with various speakers, including some doctors, who, moreover, have been or are subject to various investigations of the College of Physicians. Themes like: man as a prey ….. electromagnetic… ..nanotechnology…. Do you realize what level?
And of course about vaccination! I am a doctor with many years of experience, I am a clinician and yes, I consider myself a very good doctor in my specialty, but I do not think we are less prepared if I rely, as a doctor, on medical -based medicine, what we currently have as data. And in terms of vaccination I rely on the advice of my colleagues infectious doctors, virusologists, microbiologists, public health, epidemiology, family doctors, pneumologists, gynecologists, other specialties with a role in vaccination!
And yes, I am vaccinated, because I chose to believe in science, and when I was little … the state vaccinated and here I am at a beautiful age, I say.
And yes, I believe in the role of a correct information, but I do not accept misinformation! I received dozens of calls in the last hour from media representatives, I received calls from colleagues. As a representative and president of the Romanian College I took and took an attitude, but I also wait for a reaction from the Romanian state institutions! “
