“Even if the simple motion whether it passes or does not pass, even more, if the prime minister does not pass, the minister or the minister will leave. Even if the motion does not pass, even if the prime minister insisted and I know he insists, I have support from the prime minister, we all know that I will not implement. I am obliged to dismiss the minister, I would leave., said the minister.

He explained that he accepted the mandate “Knowing that he has a pro-European coalition behind” And he stressed that the short period between July 8 and September 1 did not allow him to fully present his measures.

“The measures are complicated measures for a system as inheritance as the education system and you will have to take complicated measures and very quickly. I did not have time from July 8 until September 1. So if I do not have the coalition, I am not a minister who proposed some measures to the coalition, I am a minister who implements it for a reason. To withdraw me ”, he added.

We recall that the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) announced the collection of signatures for the submission of a simple motion to the Minister of Education, Daniel David. The formation accuses “The challenge of the current minister to the dissatisfaction of the teachers, students and students”against the background of the austerity measures in the field.

The leader of the senators gold, Petrișor Peiu, explained that the motion starts from three premises: Romania allocates the smallest weight in GDP for education and research in the European Union; PISA tests show a 44%functional illiteracy rate; And the share of young people with higher education, of 25–26%, places Romania in the last place in the EU.

The gold parliamentarians expressed their solidarity with the teachers in protest and criticized the proposal of Minister David to increase the teaching norm from 18 to 22 hours per week. Senator Sorin Lavric stressed that, according to European data, in other states the norm is lower (14 hours in Poland, 17 in the Czech Republic, 18 in Italy, 19 in Bulgaria), and the budget allocated for education in Romania, of 3.04% of GDP, is below the legal threshold of 6% and last place in the EU. “In Daniel David I see a variety of pedagogue zbir with hammer inclinations because he does,” said Lavric, quoted by News.ro.
