The actor, known in particular for the role of the famous Batman character, spoke in New York on Monday night at the 50 -year -old Gala of the Investigative Reporters and Editors organization, The Daily Beast reports.
“Before we enter the subject, I mean, although probably-in fact, not likely-I was in disagreement with many of the things he said, Charlie Kirk leaves two children and a wife.”said Keaton.
“Because, in the end, the shootings do not solve anything, and the irony that was killed with a weapon is incredible.”he added.
Kirk was shot dead on September 10, during a question and answers session about armed massacres, on a university campus in Utah.
The right-wing activist built his career by defending the right to weapons in university debates, even claiming that the deaths caused by weapons are the price to be paid to keep the second amendment.
“Charlie Kirk was killed to silence the speech, and three months earlier, the former president of the Minnesota representatives, Melissa Hortman, and her husband, Mark, were killed for the same reason.”said journalist Scott Pelley, from 60 minutes, at the same event in New York.
“Whether you agree with the ideas of Kirk or Hortman, killing them, reducing them to silence, represents blood on the first amendment.”he added.
