Traian Băsescu states that Daniel Băluță will be sabotaged from within the party in the elections for the Capital City Hall. “The PSD tradition says that they kill their own candidates”

Traian Băsescu launches a harsh attack on former Prime Minister Adrian Năstase, whom he considers responsible for the weakening of the Capital’s administration, and states that Daniel Băluță “will not win the Capital City Hall”, being sabotaged even from within his own party, PSD.

In an intervention on B1 TV, Friday evening, in the context of the upcoming elections for the Capital City Hall, Traian Băsescu harshly criticized not only the current but also the former PSD leaderships. Concretely, the former President of Romania publicly accused the former Prime Minister Adrian Năstase of “destroying Bucharest” by the decision to fragment the capital’s budget between sectors, because, in his opinion, the measure deprived the General City Hall of the resources needed for major investments and created an unbalanced and inefficient local administration.

“Năstase, in his ferocious selfishness, destroyed the Capital’s budget, broke it into seven. The City Hall barely has any money left to pay the subsidy, and in the sectors we plant pansies, there are shows. The people of Bucharest should also revolt against the parties, but especially against this prisoner, Adrian Năstase, who destroyed the budget of Bucharest and now he comes and gives lessons”. the former president stated.

He emphasized that, because of this budget division, the General City Hall lost its ability to manage strategic projects, especially in the fields of infrastructure and transport, which explains the current blockages, the high level of pollution and the lack of a unified vision for the development of the Capital.

“The PSD tradition says that they kill their own candidates”

Regarding the elections for Bucharest City Hall, the former head of state is of the opinion that the current mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță (PSD), “will not win”, stating that he will be sabotaged from within.

“If we take the PSD tradition, Băluță will not win. Grindeanu has no interest in having the second man in the number of votes in his own party, especially one who could become a potential replacement at any time, being the general mayor of the Capital. The PSD tradition says that they kill their own candidates”. explained Traian Băsescu, who himself became president from the seat of mayor of the Capital.

He also recalled moments from his presidential campaigns, stating that he received compromising materials about PSD leaders from within the party itself.

“I will not forget that during my two campaigns for the presidency of Romania, I received files and footage about Năstase and Geoana from the PSD. The fact that I did not use them is another matter, but my staff knows. Băluță should be prepared not to win”, said the former president.

In his analysis of the current competition for the Capital City Hall, the former president noted, however, that the electoral battle is “more consistent” than in other times, having candidates with real experience in administration.

“It is a strong competition. There are three candidates who have experience in administration: Ciucu has experience from Sector 6, Băluță from 4, and Dr. was the Minister of Transport. There are no longer journalists or television personalities who come to become mayor in a city of the size and with the problems that Bucharest has”, he commented.

Finally, Traian Băsescu warned the citizens of Bucharest that, regardless of the outcome of these elections, they should not have “unrealistic” expectations from the future general mayor, as long as the administrative structure of the Capital remains “fractured and ineffective”.
