“I have said every time, and I repeat it today: hospital food is not a fad. It is, first of all, nutritional therapy, and secondly, a form of respect – respect for the system, the hospital and the manager for the patient”. wrote Rogobete on Facebook.
He points out that the way of preparing, presenting and serving the meal reflects care, dignity and responsibility towards the patients. “I am glad to see more and more hospitals that value this form of respect and improve their kitchens, menus and serving conditions. Yes, I know that there are still hospitals where things are not good — I receive daily messages in the electronic patient form on the Ministry of Health website — and I encourage you to continue reporting these situations”, added the minister.
Rogobete cites as a positive example the “Tasty and Healthy” project, run by the “Care for children” Association, where chef Radu Darie cooked alongside children admitted to the Pediatric Hospital in Pitesti.
“For Chef Darie, it was simple. For the children, it meant a lot. The Pediatric Hospital in Pitesti is one of these examples. A hospital that operates on a budget surplus, that invests the money in rehabilitating the wards, purchasing medical equipment and, well, in improving the way the food is prepared and served to the patients. A hospital whose management shows, day by day, that it can be done. Trust is good for us. And I believe in this a lot.” the minister also said.
Since mid-July, the Ministry of Health has launched an online form for reporting problems related to food in hospitals. Later, the minister made checks in various medical units, also posting photos of menus offered to patients in the country.
