The lifeless body of the composer Horia Moculescu will be laid to rest on Friday, November 14, at the “Constantin Tănase” Magazine Theater in Bucharest. The funeral will take place at the Bellu Cemetery on Sunday, announces the Union of Composers and Musicologists from Romania.

Maestro Horia Moculescu, one of the most prolific and acclaimed composers of Romanian light music, passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 88. The artist will be buried on Sunday, in Bellu Cemetery.
Known for an impressive career spanning over six decades in Romanian light music, Horia Moculescu composed approximately 500 songs, many of which became hits, including the famous “Salcia”, “Inima ta” and “Anul 2000” and received over 200 awards for his creations. In 2008, he received the UCMR Grand Prize for his entire activity, News writes.
He was an emblematic figure of light music, appreciated not only for his artistic talent, but also for his humor and lively spirit. His artistic legacy will remain in the memory of his audience and in the record of Romanian music. In addition to his vast compositional activity, he was also a talented pianist and vocal performer. Horia Moculescu was the producer and presenter of the show “Attention, se cantă!” at Romanian Television between 2009 and 2013.
In this show, he promoted Romanian music in live performances, turning it into an important platform for local performers and musical creation. He is the author of two autobiographical volumes: “Doar antun mi am amint” (2011, published by Kullusys Publishing House) and “Aş mai avera ceva de sesu” (published a few days before his death, in November 2025, by Publishing House Muzicală).
He collaborated with the most important performers of Romanian music, such as Angela Similea, Mirabela Dauer, Aurelian Andreescu, Corina Chiriac and others, significantly contributing to the launch and consolidation of their careers. Horia Moculescu thus had a strong influence on the evolution of light music since the 50s. Through all his activities, he managed to keep alive the spirit of Romanian music, being considered a legend of the genre.
