“Today we took one of the most important steps in recent years for Romanian patients: expanding the list of compensated and free medicines by 41 medicines and, at the same time, expanding the list of conditions for which existing medicines can be prescribed”said Alexandru Rogobete.

According to the Minister of Health, “it is a fundamental change that directly affects people’s lives” and “one of the biggest expansion packs in years”

“A direct result of the work of the teams from the Ministry of Health, ANMDMR and CNAS. I am proud that, together, we managed to introduce new, innovative, generic and biosimilar therapies, which bring the treatment closer to people and make the system more accessible and fairer. In parallel, the expansion of eligible conditions for the existing drugs makes the treatments more accessible to more patients. Through this extension, patients with oncological diseasesneurological, cardiovascular, rheumatological, pulmonological, dermatological, gastroenterological, hematological, ophthalmological, allergological and infectious diseases receive modern therapeutic options, scientifically validated and aligned with European standards”the official explained.

Alexandru Rogobete also specified that, “for rare diseases – where too often families have been alone – we introduce state-of-the-art treatments for amyloidosis, hereditary angioedema or achondroplasia”.
