Horia Tecău, 40, becomes a shareholder of Electryphy, the first Romanian brand of tennis equipment and develops the educational platform Mind.Set.Match, informs a press release.
Horia Tecău, ambitious to succeed both on and off the field
Former world number 1 in doubles and Olympic vice-champion alongside Florin Mergea, Horia Tecău announces two major investments in Romanian tennis: launching the educational platform Mind.Set.Match. and enters the shareholding of Electryphy, the first Romanian brand of tennis equipment.
This decision is part of Horia Tecau’s broader strategy to focus his energy in two complementary directions with long-term impact in the sport:
⦁ development of mentality and education through www.mindsetmatch.ro, a platform dedicated to young athletes, but also to parents and coaches.
⦁ investment in infrastructure and equipment standards, through direct involvement – as a shareholder, with 20% shares in the tennis equipment company Electryphy.
Together, these two projects outline Horia Tecau’s natural transition – from champion to mentor, investor and resource catalyst for the next generations. The two pillars represent, in fact, a single vision: the transformation of the way in which performance can be done in Romanian tennis.
Since retiring from the professional circuit, Horia Tecău has made it his mission to connect the experience gained in major tournaments with the real needs of young athletes.
“I have learned and gained a lot through tennis: discipline, resilience, confidence, a career and a community. The time has come to offer, in turn, the energy, experience and resources I have accumulated. I firmly believe in a new model of Romanian sports development, in which education, quality and investment support each other to generate real and sustainable performance. Mind.Set.Match. and Electryphy are the two directions through which I will be directly involved: one in the area of mindset and education, the other in the area of image and performance. I see these two projects as a true ecosystem dedicated to excellence. I’m not just putting my name on a brand, I’m investing capital, energy and vision. It is a long-term commitment, through which I want to help young athletes succeed – both in sport and in life”, declares Horia Tecau.
What is Mind.Set.Match.
Mind.Set.Match. is an educational program that combines physical training with the mental preparation of the athletes, combined with support for parents and coaches. Mentality, emotional balance, building a personal brand, the “relationship” with pressure, technical and physical training, as well as the guidance of parents and coaches are just some of the topics that will be addressed, as a unitary whole, through dedicated camps, seminars, masterclasses and practical workshops.
In addition, as an Electryphy shareholder, Horia Tecău will contribute to the development and promotion of Romanian products aligned with quality standards that support performance at the highest level.
Legends 2025 – the first Electryphy & Horia Tecău collection in the new shareholding formula
The launch of the “Legends 2025” anniversary collection, dedicated to the ten years since his triumph at Wimbledon, marks the beginning of the new Horia Tecău and Electryphy partnership. Inspired by the values that defined Horia as a sportsman, the collection is addressed not only to professional players, but also to all lovers of the “white sport” and is already available on electryphy.ro.
“The collection marking 10 years since winning the Grand Slam title is not just an exercise in nostalgia. We chose to link Horia’s entry into the shareholding with this moment because Wimbledon remains the landmark that speaks most clearly about who he is as an athlete, and we want Electryphy to grow in the same register: with consistency, seriousness and respect for the game“, added Monica Nițescu, co-founder of Electryphy.
The last non-playing captain of Romania’s Billie Jean King team, Horia Tecau is former world number 1 in doubles, Olympic vice-champion and promoter of mental performance. A three-time Grand Slam doubles champion and silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Horia has 38 ATP doubles titles to his name and has been recognized for his leadership, consistency in play and ability to build strong partnerships both on and off the court.
As UNICEF National Ambassador in Romania, Horia was involved in supporting children’s rights and their access to health and education. From the role of mentor, Horia Tecău has already published a book for children – “Life in the rhythm of tennis”, in which he conveys valuable lessons about resilience, courage and gratitude through the prism of sports.
