Julio Iglesias is facing allegations that he sexually abused two women in 2021. The women were employed at his Caribbean villas.
Two women have accused Spanish artist Julio Iglesias of sexually abusing them while they worked as domestic workers in his Caribbean villas, according to media reports.
An employee claims she was forced to have sex with the Spanish singer, describing acts of physical and verbal violence, The Independent writes.
A physiotherapist, who also worked for the singer, claimed she was subjected to inappropriate touching, insults and humiliation during her time working for him in an atmosphere of constant control and harassment.
The assaults allegedly took place at his residences in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, and Lyford Cay, in the Bahamas.
The allegations were published on Tuesday following a joint investigation by Spain’s elDiario.es newspaper and Univision television.
One of the alleged victims, called Rebeca – not her real name – says the Spanish artist, then 77, often called her into his room at the end of the evening.
“He used me almost every night,” she told elDiario.es and Univision Noticias. “I felt like an object, like a slave.”
She said the intercourse almost always took place in the presence of another, older member of his staff.
Another woman, Laura — also not her real name — claims Iglesias kissed her on the mouth and touched her breasts against her will.
However, the woman Rebeca identified as a supervisor at the Punta Cana villa dismissed the allegations as “absurd”.
The former manager stated that she only has “gratitude, admiration and respect for the great artist and man that he is”describing Iglesias as “modest, generous, a great gentleman and very respectful of all women.”
Iglesias has sold over 300 million records worldwide.
