Popular music performer Sofia Vicoveanca was discharged from the Suceava County Hospital, after suffering a heart attack on the night of January 10 to 11.
The beloved singer Sofia Vicoveanca was discharged from the Suceva Emergency Hospital, five days after suffering a heart attack.
The manager of the Suceava County Clinical Hospital, Larisa Blanari, sent a message on her Facebook page after the discharge of the artist Sofia Vicoveanca:
“We are concerned every day with the health of each patient, and the medical team of this hospital does it every moment: saves! Today we enjoy a successful result and a sincere smile, at the end of the mission, together with the emblem of the Bucovina song, the artist Sofia Vicoveanca. What a man, what an artist, what a patient! Good health and tender song for many years to come!”, said Larisa Blanari.
A few days ago, Sofia Vicoveanca spoke about her state of health, noting that she strictly follows the doctors’ instructions and waits for the effects of the administered treatment.
According to the artist, in addition to heart problems, his condition was also affected by a cold, which complicated the medical picture.
Sofia Vicoveanca, one of the most beloved performers of popular music in Romania, suffered a myocardial infarction on the night of January 10 to 11. The 84-year-old artist was admitted to the “Sf. Ioan cel Nou” Emergency County Clinical Hospital in Suceava.
Sofia Vicoveanca was born on September 23, 1941 in the commune of Toporăuți (today’s Toporuica), a locality located near the city of Chernăuți (today in Ukraine), receiving the name of Sofia Fusa at birth.
The stage name was chosen because the director of the artistic ensemble where she was employed considered that the name Sofia Fusa had no artistic resonance and thus called her Vicoveanca, from the area of origin – the performer grew up in the Vicovu de Jos commune.
As a recognition of her activity for almost 50 years in the service of Romanian popular music, Sofia Vicoveanca was awarded several distinctions such as: “Cultural Merit” class IV (1973); “Tudor Vladimirescu” medal cl. I (1975); Medal “Cultural Merit” cl. I (1976); National Cross “Faithful Service” 3rd class (2002); National Order “Cultural Merit” in the rank of Grand Officer (2004).
