The National Audiovisual Council (CNA) decided to withdraw the audiovisual license granted to the Bucătăria TV station, after the television failed to start broadcasting within the legal term. The license had been obtained in January 2024, but the project was not launched even after the expiry of the maximum period stipulated by law.
According to the audiovisual legislation, a television station must go on the air within a maximum of one year after obtaining the license, with the possibility of receiving a maximum of two extensions of six months each, upon request and with the approval of the CNA.
The TV kitchen already benefited from such an extension in June last year, but was unable to meet this deadline either, reports Paginademedia.ro.
The project, initiated by the journalist Alexandru Răducanu, promised a grid of programs focused on culinary informative entertainment, but also on general content, with the participation of well-known names from the press. At the time of the granting of the license, Robert Turcescu and Liviu Mihaiu, who had announced their intention to produce shows with an educational and practical component, appeared before the CNA, alongside Răducanu.
“I proposed to make a show in this project, if we succeed in bringing it to the homes of Romanians, a project that will be called Cook at home, because I learned to cook with my mother in the kitchen from the age of six. I want to dispel some myths, that you need a lot of time to cook. You can cook two dishes in an hour at the most. Give your child a warm soup for lunch, rather than fill him with pizza from I don’t know where else, give him a cream soup, stop making him eat only fried potatoes”, said Robert Turcescu two years ago.
The Kitchen TV license was owned by the company Seraphim Media Group, controlled 95% by Alexandru Răducanu and 5% by Alina Ioana Preda.
Răducanu is also the owner of Canal 33, a television station which, according to information published in the press, faced financial difficulties in the last year.
Contacted previously by Paginademedia.ro, Alexandru Răducanu stated that the station went through a difficult period and accused the existence of “hostile takeover” attempts, which would have led to financial blockages. Under these conditions, the TV Kitchen project was no longer able to be launched, and CNA decided to withdraw the license.
“Obscure forces have more or less attempted a hostile takeover, taking advantage of our more difficult year or even actively forcing, through the levers they had access to, our financial stranglehold,” said Alexandru Răducanu.
