The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, visited the site of the first and only Severe Burns Center intended for children in Romania, announcing that the works are being carried out at an accelerated pace and that the current estimates indicate the completion of the building by the end of this year, with the unit to be put into use in 2027.

According to the minister, compared to the last visit made in July last year, the progress is significant.

“Back then the construction was in the beginning, we were only talking about the ground floor. Today we are on the second floor and soon the third floor will be completed. The work is progressing at a steady pace”said Alexandru Rogobete.

He specified that, following discussions with the builder, the pace of work has been intensified since the summer, with the teams working in several shifts, including during the night. Starting this spring, the construction site also received permits to carry out work on weekends, both on Saturdays and on Sundays.

According to the estimates presented by the minister, the resistance structure of the building — which includes four floors and a technical floor — would be completed in May of this year. If the work schedule is met, the entire building will be ready by the end of the year, with the center expected to become operational in 2027.

Alexandru Rogobete emphasized that this is the third severe burns center built at the national level, but it is the first dedicated exclusively to pediatrics.

Regarding the other similar projects, the Minister of Health mentioned that the burn center in Timișoara is already completed, and the installation of medical equipment and functional tests are currently underway. It could be put into use in April or May, depending on the pace of completion of the facilities.

At the same time, the severe burns center in Târgu Mureș is at a stage of execution of more than 95%, the estimated deadline for commissioning being the summer of this year.
