Višinii fell to the 3rd place, being overtaken on goal difference by Dinamo, who drew yesterday with Petrolul (1-1).
The “Godmother” of the people of Giulești in recent years, U Cluj achieved its fourth consecutive victory on Saturday evening at Rapid, with the goals scored by the Frenchman Oucasse Mendy (67), following a corner, on his debut in the Super League, and by the veteran Dan Nistor (85), from a penalty taken by the same Mendy. The guests also had clear opportunities to score through Ovidiu Bic (8, 66) and Issouf Macalou (69).
The hosts performed woefully, having only two real scoring chances, wasted by Tobias Christensen (59) and Claudiu Petrila (88), so they have two defeats in their last three home matches. In the last five championship stages, Rapid collected three failures. Instead, the University has four wins in its last five trips and has taken a clear option for access to the play-offs.
