A woman from Iasi, a veterinarian, was terrorized by a man after she bought a villa in the Tătărași neighborhood. The aggressor, identified as Mihăiță Căldăraru, entered the building several times without permission and threatened her with death. The police opened a criminal case, and the individual was sentenced to 4 years and one month in prison with execution.
According to the indictment, the scandal began after the veterinarian purchased the villa in 2015, from a person who had previously bought it through a bailiff, following an auction. The victim moved into the building in 2018, after the construction work was completed, and opened his veterinary office on the ground floor, BZI writes.
The incident that triggered the series of attacks occurred on April 13, 2025.
“When I went downstairs, I found the defendant Mihăița Căldăraru coming out of the office, with my keys to the building, the office and the gates. He shouted that he was the owner of the house and told me to get out, threatening that if I didn’t do it, he would hit me in the head with a curb”, it is stated in the indictment of the court.
The assailant continued to cause trouble and follow the woman.
“The female person, with two minor children, entered the yard with him. Later, the defendant came to cause a scandal and threatened the injured person with death, telling her that she had an hour to leave the building and that if she didn’t do it, he would kill her, as well as the dogs she has in the yard and in the office.” the indictment also showed.
Over the following days, the man returned to the yard and threatened her by phone: “If you don’t leave the house, I will hurt you.”
The victim had to call the police and the security company for protection. The surveillance cameras installed by the doctor captured the illegal entries and threats of the aggressor.
On Monday, February 2, the Iași Court sentenced Mihăița Căldăraru to 4 years and one month in prison with execution, for blackmail, domestic violence, violation of professional premises and theft.
