Rapper Lil Jon’s son found dead in a pond north of Atlanta. He had been missing for several days

Nathan Smith, 27, known professionally as DJ Young Slade and son of rapper Lil Jon, was found dead in a pond north of Atlanta, Georgia.

American rapper Lil Jon said on Friday, February 6, that his son, Nathan Smith, had died, confirming the news in a joint statement with Smith’s mother, writes The Guardian.

“I am extremely saddened by the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith. His mother (Nicole Smith) and I are devastated,” it is shown in the press release.

Lil Jon described his son as a “incredibly talented young man”music producer, artist, engineer and graduate of New York University.

“Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support in the search for him over the last few days. Thank you to the entire Milton Police Department who got involved”the rapper added.

According to police, Nathan Smith left the home in Milton “under unusual circumstances” Tuesday morning.

“Nathan was the kindest person you could ever meet,” it also shows in Lil Jon’s message. “He was extremely caring, considerate, polite, passionate and big-hearted – he loved his family and friends in his life to the fullest.”

The artist was missing

Police said Smith, 27, “he ran away from home and he was reported missing,” according to the missing persons poster shared on social media.

He left on foot and didn’t have a phone with him”the police added. “He may be disoriented and need help. Family and friends are concerned for his safety.”

Milton police immediately began a search, and after failing to find him, authorities expanded the search to a pond near Smith’s home. Before noon Friday, divers from the Cherokee County Fire Department discovered a body in the pond.

“The person is believed to be Nathan Smith pending official confirmation by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office,” the police said.

“Based on the investigation to date, there are no indications of other people’s involvement”the police said. “However, the Milton Police Criminal Investigation Division will continue to treat the case as an open and active investigation.”

The police also stated that no additional details will be provided until the cause and manner of death are determined by the coroner.

Lil Jon, born Jonathan Smith, is an Atlanta-based rapper and producer who is a central figure in the crunk subgenre of hip-hop. He is known for pieces such as “Get Down” (2002), featuring the East Side Boyz, and “Turn Down for What” (2013), with DJ Snake.
