Violinist Bogdan Bișoc, founding member of the “Ad Libitum” Quartet, died on Sunday, February 8. The Iasi Philharmonic sends its condolences to the musician’s family.

Bogdan was a musician of rare sensitivity, an exceptional violist, as well as a dear friend, whose passion for chamber music inspired generations of artists. Through his work with the Quartet «Ad Libitum»carried the reputation of the Iași school of music on the biggest stages of the world, leaving behind a priceless cultural legacy.
The music world is poorer today. We will keep his memory alive through every note and every chord that will resound in the spirit of excellence that he always promoted”, the State Philharmonic from Iași transmits.
The institution reports that the violinist Bogdan Bișoc “he was not only an accomplished musician, but also a husband and father devoted to his family, a role model for all of us who are left alone, hardened in pain.”

According to the website of the George Enescu International Festival, the “Ad libitum” Quartet was founded in 1988, at the “George Enescu” National University of Arts in Iasi. The original formula also includes Adrian Berescu (1st violin), Șerban Mereuță (2nd violin) and Filip Papa (cello).
The ensemble has become a true landmark of Iași cultural life and a name with international resonance.
