The private medical sector in Romania marks an important moment by celebrating 25 years of SANADOR’s existence. From a modest clinic opened in 2001, the institution has evolved into a complex network that has influenced the standards of diagnosis and treatment, emphasizing constant investment in technology and high-difficulty surgeries performed locally.
SANADOR’s path began with a small medical unit in Piața Alba Iulia in Bucharest and transformed, over the two and a half decades, into a structure that includes the largest multidisciplinary clinical hospital in the country, an integrated oncology center and multiple clinics.
Dr. Doris Andronescu, general director and sole owner of the institution, emphasizes that the success of this project is due to the refusal to make compromises regarding the quality of the medical act: “SANADOR was built with patience, work and deep respect for the patient. We believed from the beginning that medicine at international standards is also possible in Romania and we chose to constantly invest so that patients have access to top diagnosis and treatment, here, at home. These 25 years speak of continuity, of people and of the responsibility to move forward without compromise”, transmitted Dr. Doris Andronescu, through a press release.
Technical innovation and medical firsts
Over the years, the institution introduced for the first time in Romania technologies that have become standards in the field today, such as the first 3D ultrasound or the first fully digitized operating room. Currently, the hospital is recognized for managing cases of extreme complexity, from living donor liver transplantation to minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery interventions.
An essential element in patient safety is the Category I Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit (ATI), the only one of this level in the private system, which allows major surgical interventions to be carried out under maximum safety conditions.
From pioneering to normality in health
The evolution of the organization followed an organic growth model, adapting to the needs of patients through integrated services. The opening of the first private oncology center and the first Emergency Department in the non-state medical sector represented turning points in the way emergencies and serious chronic pathologies are managed.
Looking to the future, the institution’s representatives say that the objective remains the same: facilitating Romanians’ access to elite medicine without the need to travel abroad.
“A quarter of a century ago, many things seemed impossible in Romanian medicine. Today, we call them normal. It’s normal to have access to elite doctors. It’s normal to benefit from high-performance technology. It’s normal to be able to be treated in Romania”conclude SANADOR representatives on the anniversary watch.
