Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared, on Friday, at the reception organized on the occasion of the National Day of Japan, that over 400 Japanese companies are present in Romania, and through their activity contribute to the development and modernization of our country.
“I am honored to be with you today to mark Japan’s National Day and the birthday of His Majesty, Naruhito, the Emperor of Japan. On behalf of the Government of Romania, allow me to convey our respect and best thoughts to you and the Japanese people. I also congratulate Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her victory in the elections at the beginning of the month and wish her success in her mandate”. delivered Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, at the reception organized on the occasion of the National Day of Japan.
The Head of the Executive stated that from March 2023, our countries are united through a Strategic Partnership, which consecrates a friendship cultivated for over a century.
“Today, this relationship can be seen in numbers and in projects. Japan is the main destination of Romanian exports to Asia. In the first ten months of 2025, trade has exceeded 1 billion dollars and continues to grow. More than 400 Japanese companies are present in Romania, and through their activity they contribute to the development and modernization of our country. We want new investments, joint projects and technology transfer. The M6 metro line is one such project that will bring benefits obvious to both Romanians and tourists who will come to visit us in Bucharest”. the prime minister showed in the speech.
The prime minister emphasized that he sees concrete opportunities in industry, energy, technology and research, from nuclear and renewable energy, to artificial intelligence and digitization.
“The Center for High Power Optics in Măgurele shows that we can develop large-scale projects together. We have numerous formats of bilateral cooperation. We must use them to the maximum to transform ideas into solutions and bring real value to our economies. Last but not least, I would like to mention Romania’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka. Almost a million visitors passed through our pavilion. It is an image capital that we must transform into new investments and collaborations”. the prime minister mentioned.
“We are living through a complicated period from the point of view of security. Even if we are geographically far, Romania and Japan are close by common values and interests. We support closer cooperation between the European Union, NATO and Japan, to defend democracy and the rules that are the basis of international stability”Bolojan also said.
