FCSB moves away from the play-offs after the victory of Pitesti against Farul. The scenarios in which the red-blues could still climb the rankings

FC Argeș took a decisive step in the fight for the play-off, after the tight victory, 1-0, achieved against Farul Constanța. The goal that tipped the balance came at the beginning of the second half, in the 51st minute, through Ricardo Matos.

The success takes the people from Pitesti to 46 points and gives them an advantage of four lengths over FC Botoșani, occupying the 7th place. The only team that can put pressure on is FCSB, if they win their game with Metaloglobus Bucharest and get closer to three points. Pitesti remain safe, however, with head-to-head results in their favor, which guarantees them priority if the points are tied.

In the last two stages, FC Argeș plays away with Dinamo Bucharest and at home with Unirea Slobozia. Three points from these matches would be enough to secure a place in the play-offs, even if FCSB were to reach the same total thanks to direct victories, 1-0 and 2-0.

Three possible scenarios for FCSB

For FCSB to clinch the play-off with 49 points, at least one of the following scenarios must be met:

  • FC Argeș to obtain at most two points from the duels with Dinamo and Unirea Slobozia;
  • CFR Cluj to collect a maximum of one point from the matches with Farul and Dinamo;
  • Cluj University not to win against Oțelul Galați, before the direct confrontation with FCSB in the last round.
