A 55-year-old man from Agnita, Sibiu County, was given a four-month suspended prison sentence after decorating his home with fascist symbols and paintings of Nazi leaders, including a painting of Adolf Hitler.
The court ordered that he be placed under supervision for two years and comply with several obligations.
The incident was reported last spring, when a German tourist noticed fascist symbols displayed on the gate and threshold of the house and notified the authorities. The police searched both the house in Agnita and a property owned by the man in the municipality of Sibiu.
The investigators found that a ceramic swastika was displayed on the threshold of the house in Agnita, visible from the street. Inside, the man had a painting of Adolf Hitler, but also paintings of other leaders of fascist organizations, writes Ora de Sibiu.

Six revolvers were also found in the home. According to the prosecutors, the display of fascist symbols in public space demonstrates the intention to spread fascist ideas and promote the cult of persons guilty of the persecution and annihilation of European Jews.
The Agnita court appreciated that, although the man showed a passion for controversial personalities, the public exposure was minimal. After notifying the authorities, he removed the swastika and paintings from the windows.
Last week, the court decided that the man should be given a four-month suspended prison sentence and placed under supervision for two years, during which time he must report regularly to the Probation Service, receive visits from the probation adviser, notify any change of residence or travel for more than five days and communicate all information about his existence.
