Chivu produced a hole of proportions in the pocket of the club. Elimination from the Champions League drastically thinned Inter’s income

Last season of the Champions League football, taking into account only the awards coming from UEFA (without other receipts), the treasury of the Inter Milan club received more than 136 million euros after the team reached the final. This year, the money will be just over 71 million euros, after the premature elimination suffered in front of the Norwegians from Bodo in the play-off phase.

Beyond the disastrous final in Munich, 0-5 with PSG, Inter managed to collect the monstrous amount of 136.6 million euros in 2025. A real treasure from UEGA, with which the club’s balance sheet was repaired and it was possible to invest in the transfer market.

A remarkable figure, a far cry from that collected by UEFA this season, as Inter’s prize money amounts to just €71.27 million. This results in a huge difference of 65.33 million euros from one year to the next.

The hole is a double defeat. In sport, Inter are the first Champions League finalist to fail to reach the last 16 the following season since Chelsea London in 2012/13. In terms of income, they can be paid for by winning the title (scudetto) and the Coppa Italia.
