The law is “quite permissive” with doctors who combine work in public hospitals with that in private ones, managers in Timișoara claim, after the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced national controls to verify compliance with the work schedule.
The manager of the Victor Babeș Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timișoara, Cristian Oancea, believes that doctors who neglect their work in public hospitals should definitely leave for the private sector. He draws attention to the fact that the current legislation is too permissive with the employees in the system, according to Radio Timișoara.
“Both as a doctor and as a hospital manager, I was also a medical director, I believe that our colleagues, whether we are talking about doctors, whether we are talking about medical assistants or other teaching or auxiliary staff, must stay at the working hours for which they are paid. It does not seem normal to me, as was the case recently brought to the attention of public opinion, that during working hours you go to private work. Then go to private work for good. And I think that the minister should issue a law by which, if you catch the doctor, that he has made an exception to the rule, that is, he is constantly going to another hospital service, his employment contract should be terminated. I think that the law is quite permissive with the employees and the salaries are good enough to do our job in the interest of the patient”. says manager Cristian Oancea.
And the manager of the Timișoara Municipal Hospital, Stela Iurciuc, claims that an effective solution would be a clear breakdown of each doctor’s schedule.
“I would be happy if we had the opportunity with the new program for the implementation of the digitization of the insurance company to make the doctors rotate, exactly what the Minister of Health said. The doctors should perform integrated outpatient rotations. Two weeks a doctor should carry out his activity, so to speak, in the integrated outpatient clinic and two weeks to carry out his activity on the ward. So there is a need to reform the National Insurance House as well, to allow this program which is specified since 2008 in the Integrated Outpatient Law, when it appeared” says the manager”, explained Stela Iurciuc.
The College of Physicians conveyed that a clear and transparent delimitation of the time allocated to public and private sector activities is essential.
Alexandru Rogobete, the Minister of Health, emphasizes that compliance with the work schedule in public hospitals is essential and that controls will be extended at the national level.
