Facebook major glitch. Thousands of users are affected globally

Several people reported being unable to use Facebook on Wednesday, March 4, with major outages reported globally.

According to the International Business Times, Facebook and other Meta-owned platforms experienced major outages starting on the evening of March 3, 2026 and continuing into March 4, leaving thousands of users unable to log in or access their accounts, according to user reports and sites that monitor outages.

The problems affected the site, mobile apps and related services like Instagram in some regions, sparking a wave of complaints on other social networks like X.

In Romania, at 12:00, 181 people reported having problems.

Meta, the parent company, did not immediately offer an official statement on the cause, but sources close to the situation suggested that it was a technical problem, not a cyber attack.

It’s not the first time Meta has faced a major glitch. A similar global outage in October 2021 lasted over five hours and affected Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp due to a configuration change that disrupted internal communications.

Another glitch, in March 2024, affected hundreds of thousands of users and was resolved after about two hours, with Meta citing a “technical problem”.
