Activist Dana Hering and Daciana Sârbu had an exchange of acid lines on social networks, after the controversy related to the repatriation flight from Dubai to Romania, from which the minor daughter of former prime minister Victor Ponta was excluded. The discussion started from a post by Dana Hering, who defended Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu, after information appeared that he intervened to prevent Irina Ponta from leaving on the repatriation flight from Dubai to Romania.
The girl had been summoned to the consulate and had boarded a bus that was going to take her to the airport, but she was let off after a phone call that, according to information appearing in the public space, would have been given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu.
At the press conference organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the subject was raised by all the journalists, who asked if the minister personally intervened for Irina Ponta to be taken off the bus, but Oana Țoiu avoided confirming or denying his involvement.
“Now I saw the press conference too.
Absolutely embarrassing journalism in Romania, under any criticism.
How did ALL parents in Romania feel, seeing that only Ponta’s daughter matters?
How did the children who are still far away and NOT Ponta’s girl feel?
And why does Ponta’s girl have to be the number 1 topic in a conference of the MFA minister, with thousands of people trying to find solutions to get home and so many topics that need to be clarified?
In any country with a functioning democracy, any official who, in crisis situations, prioritizes his family on political criteria, to the detriment of other citizens, should resign in a second.
Ponta’s almost 18-year-old daughter, who lived unaccompanied in an apartment in Dubai, was taking the place of another child, because there are 94 other children waiting for the flight to Romania. But that doesn’t interest the nation’s journalists,” activist Dana Hering initially wrote on Facebook, who posted, among other things, Victor Ponta’s wealth declaration, to emphasize the fact that the former prime minister’s daughter was not a priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Daciana Sârbu’s reaction
Shortly afterwards, Daciana Sârbu, Irina’s mother and Victor Ponta’s ex-wife, commented on Dana Hering’s post, emphasizing that the girl is still a minor and that she did not intervene to hasten her daughter’s return to the country.
In addition to listing the criteria that qualified Irina for the repatriation flight, Dacia Sârbu resumed the accusations against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, who she says personally called the consulate and prevented Irina from leaving Dubai.
“Dear Madam,
1. Irina is a minor until she turns 18 – that’s how it’s legal!
2. Irina is NOT a UAE resident.
3. I didn’t talk to anyone – they called her to the Consulate to take her to the flight to Oman, because I informed the consulate on Saturday that she was there and that I wanted to bring her back as quickly as possible, as so many Romanians did until they were answered on the phone.
4. The flight is half empty – so don’t take anyone’s seat.
5. I hope you can put yourself in my shoes when the baby calls and cries about being in the basement and never be in that situation.
If she was “privileged”, she flew from Saturday, how so many returned.
I don’t usually comment and I don’t stand conflicts, but that’s exactly what the minister did. He called and said that it’s not “good” for the child to be on the plane and that things can’t stay like this!”, wrote Daciana Sârbu to Dana Hering’s post.
“It was not the Foreign Minister who sent her to study in Dubai”
The discussions did not end here, however, because Dana Hering returned with a new message, in which she took Daciana Sârbu’s answer and asked her why she did not bring her child to the country when the MFA issued travel alerts for the Middle East, pointing out that “it was not the Foreign Minister who sent her to study in Dubai”.
“Ms. Daciana Sârbu, Victor Ponta’s ex-wife and Irina Ponta’s mother, commented on my post, so we include her point of view.
I am sure that we will find out in a few hours if “the plane is half empty”, given that there are still children left without transportation in the area and so many citizens who have no repatriation solutions.
And yes, Mrs. Daciana Sârbu, we put ourselves in the place of any parent whose child is stuck in a conflict zone and does not have Miss Irina’s solutions, that is, their own apartment, house-board.
Only one question remains.
Both parents are politicians, so they have some idea about the international situation and conflicts.
Why didn’t they call their child home last week when it was already known that a major conflict was going to break out in the area?
That it was not the Minister of Foreign Affairs who sent her to study in Dubai”,
wrote Dana Hering.
