Armand Duplantis, an athlete from another planet. He set the 15th world record in the pole vault

The athlete Armand Duplantis, for the 15th time, sets the world record in the pole vault: 6.31 m. This record has a special meaning: it was achieved right in Sweden, in his native Uppsala, in front of his family, including his future wife, at the meeting dedicated to him: the 5th edition of the Mondo Classic, an event of the Indoor World Tour.

It is also the second time he has achieved this feat in Sweden. The previous one was on June 15, when he jumped 6.28m at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm during the Diamond League.

At 26, Armand, in an extraordinary context, with eight athletes able to overcome the six-meter barrier throughout their career, rewrote history once again.

He had no more than four attempts, all successful. At 5.65, at 5.90, at 6.08, and finally at the monstrous threshold. Norway’s Guttormsen cleared 6.00, Americans Bradford and Kendricks, as did Australia’s Marshall, 5.90.

Among the losers was the Greek Karalis, who 12 days ago climbed to 6.17, the second best man of all time.
