The Mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu, sent a public message to the mother of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, after she commented in an interview on the situation of local finances and the organization of the Craiova Christmas Market. The mayor’s reaction was published on Facebook and contains several criticisms of the Government.

In her message, Lia Olguța Vasilescu claims that she did not ask for money to pay salaries, as the prime minister’s mother suggested, and explains that her request was for the repair of a power plant under the Government’s responsibility.
“Mrs. Ilie Bolojan’s mother, I understood that you scolded me for demanding salary money from your boy and that I spent at the Christmas market on lights. Just so you know, I didn’t ask for salary money, I asked to repair a power station that belonged to the Government and that left my Craiova people in the cold this winter for about seven days”wrote the mayor.
The mayor added that the event organized during the holidays had economic effects for the city. “From the Christmas Market several tens of thousands of Craiova residents earned salaries who work in trade, HORECA or are owners of apartments that they have rented out to tourists“, stated Vasilescu.
In the same message, the mayor of Craiova accuses the prime minister of having affected local budgets through decisions adopted in the government meeting. “In order to defend the scoundrel, you should know that tonight he just robbed the people of Craiova of more than 50 million after forcing them to pay double local taxes, through the amendments read by Mr. Nazare on the tape directly in the government meeting, without public consultation”she wrote.
The message ends with an ironic reply addressed to the prime minister’s mother: “If you still made a reference to me, I also have a question: How did you punish him when he was small and he was doing stupid things? (…) If he’s still so good, you little bastard, take him home!”
What the prime minister’s mother said in the interview
The mayor’s reaction comes after an interview given by the prime minister’s mother, Floarea Bolojan, for Libertatea in which she expressed her support for her son and talked about the political pressures he is under. “The PSD all the time led, but they did not lead well. They are trying to defeat him, but dear mother must not give in. You grew from a strong land! So be it!she said.
At the same time, the woman stated that she does not understand why some town halls say that they have no more money, referring directly to the mayor of Craiova. “Lia Olguța asks me that she has no money to pay the salaries. But why did the fair, two months before, at Christmas, consume so much energy? Si-amu comes to ask for money“, said Floarea Bolojan.
