US actor Sean Penn arrived near the front line in eastern Ukraine, where he met with Ukrainian soldiers and delivered a message of support, according to footage released by a mechanized brigade.

American actor Sean Penn, on a new visit to Ukraine, traveled near the front line in the Donetsk region, where he spoke with Ukrainian soldiers and a former presidential official. The information was made public by the 157th Mechanized Brigade, which shared images and details on its Telegram channel, reports AFP, quoted by Agerpres.

According to the brigade, the actor expressed “sincere support” and “gratitude” to the soldiers he met. In the published photos, Sean Penn appears, among other things, in front of an entrance to the city of Sloviansk, located about 20 kilometers from the front line.

Another picture captures him with Andrii Iermak, a former influential adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, who resigned in November following a corruption scandal.

Before his arrival in Ukraine, Brigade 157 also published a video of the actor, in which he reads a message sent at the request of his friend Andrii Iermak. In the recording, Sean Penn pays tribute to the soldiers of the brigade fighting on the front and emphasizes the importance of American support for Ukraine.

On Sunday, the actor picked up a third Academy Award, for best supporting actor, for his portrayal of a devoted officer in “One Battle After Another.” However, he did not participate in the ceremony in Los Angeles, choosing to return to Ukraine.
