Bankruptcy for Ronaldinho. How he ended up with $6 in his account after chopping his $125,000,000 fortune

Bankruptcy for Ronaldinho. How he ended up with $6 in his account after chopping his $125,000,000 fortune

March 21, 2026

After delighting the football world with his tricks, Ronaldinho proves that the saying “ban la ban” is not always true. The former Barcelona, PSG and AC Milan star, now 45 years old, has lost his $125 million fortune over time and lives off the events he is invited to. The Brazilian was in Romania twice last year, for demonstration matches.

During his time as a footballer (he retired 11 years ago), Ronaldinho amassed a fortune of $125 million from salaries, sponsorships and advertising deals. 7 years ago, however, the money went to Apa Sâmbetei, due to some uninspired investments, but also because of his extravagant lifestyle.

57 confiscated properties

The two-time Ballon d’Or winner was then fined by a court in his country with around three million dollars, because he built illegally in a protected ecological zone in Porto Alegre. Because he did not pay the penalty, 57 of his properties and luxury vehicles were confiscated, his passport was seized and his bank accounts were frozen. In one of these accounts, the authorities discovered that he had only $6, Brazilian media revealed.

Meanwhile, Ronaldinho has worked through his problems and recovered financially, but not to the level he was at in the past. In 2021, he won a lawsuit with Atletico Mineiro for image rights, after which he received approximately one million euros. As the former great footballer does not currently have major advertising contracts, he chose to participate in demonstration matches and other events of this kind, which is the reason why he was present twice in Romania, in Cluj-Napoca and in Iasi, only in 2025.
