The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, said on Tuesday, April 7, that the salary he receives “is a bad joke”, as it is not related enough to the responsibilities and workload.
“I was earning very well from consulting before, 400-500 euros a day. Now I have a salary of 19,000 lei at the City Hall. I have enough money because I don’t have big expenses. I only have a 3-room apartment.
For the responsibility that a mayor has, this salary is a bad joke. For me as a person it is enough, but relative to the responsibilities and workload, it is not well paid“, Ciucu told Gândul.
He also said that his priority is the rehabilitation of Herăstrău Park, where he found a series of irregularities in the administration.
“Some of the parks already look much better. In a year and a half I think that Herăstrauul will look civilized”, stated Ciprian Ciucu in the Gândul studio.
The mayor also said that he managed to unlock an essential program for the condition of the park, the danger of overflowing the banks.
“I also took care of that. The project that was supposed to make the banks safe had been unlocked for a year or so. I signed the construction permit to make the banks safe. After that the development project will follow. But it is premature to talk about development now until we make the banks safe.” Ciucu also said.
The mayor says that he refused to build two playgrounds because the costs proposed by ALPAB were much too high, even 6-7 times higher than for other parks built in Drumul Taberei, Crângași or Militari.
He explained that he is waiting for the expiration of the current framework contract to be able to carry out these projects at a fair price.
