A tourist from Romania tells how her vacation in Morocco turned into an unpleasant experience, after she was faced with the fait accompli: either she pays additional taxes she didn’t know about to get to the accommodation, or she stays on her own in the desert.
A vacation in Morocco, which promised spectacular landscapes and an unforgettable experience in the desert, turned into a frustrating situation for a tourist from Romania. Once at her destination, the woman claims she was faced with unexpected additional costs and a lack of real transportation alternatives, which left her in a difficult situation right in the middle of the desert. Her story, made public on social networks, caused reactions and quickly became a warning to other travelers, notes Click!.
The experience lived by Diana Mocanu, a Romanian vacationing in Morocco, started as an ordinary reservation made online, at a price that seemed advantageous. The chosen destination: an accommodation in the desert, one of the increasingly popular tourist attractions for those who want to reach the Sahara.
Everything went smoothly until the tourists arrived at the meeting point in the desert, from where they were to be picked up and transported to the accommodation camp. There, she says, the surprise came.
“The biggest tip I got in Morocco! The desert accommodations. Everyone wants to get to the Sahara — and yes, it’s a unique experience, worth visiting, but let me tell you what to watch out for… We booked everything online, the price was good… and when we got to the meeting point…”, she said.
According to his account, they were asked to pay an additional fee of 100 euros per person to be able to actually get to the accommodation, without this cost having been previously mentioned. The situation became all the more difficult as there was no other transport option.
“We were asked another €100 per person to get to the camp. Without the alternative of arriving with something else or someone else and without being told in advance. Basically cheap accommodation… and they charge you after. And guess what? If you refuse, you stay there with no options.” said Diana Mocanu.
After the unpleasant experience, she chose to make her mistake public, in the hope that other tourists will not go through the same situation, especially in tourist areas in the desert, where access often depends on intermediary services.
“So be very careful: check if transport to the camp is included or not”, she relayed.
