The leadership of the Social Democratic Party has finalized the final details of the plan to remove Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan from office. According to the information obtained by “Adevărul”, if Bolojan does not leave the Victoria Palace by April 23, the social-democratic ministers will submit their resignations.
The moves are expected to begin after April 20, when 5,000 party members are due to take part in a broad consultation on whether to remain in the current governing formula. Despite the aggressive rhetoric of the USR in recent months, PSD would not say no to the remaining in government of the party founded by President Nicușor Dan.
Social democratic sources claim that the prime minister should submit his resignation without the need for a parliamentary procedure. If Ilie Bolojan refuses this step, PSD will support the censure motion prepared by AUR and PACE. According to the Law, in the situation where the PSD ministers present their resignations, Ilie Bolojan has 45 days to request a vote of confidence before the Parliament.
Ilie Bolojan says that he is not considering a resignation
Asked last Thursday about the plan prepared by the social democrats, Ilie Bolojan declared that he was not considering resigning from his position.
“I do not consider such a hypothesis. I seek to behave responsibly while I have the honor to hold this position, while we are in a problematic situation and certainly, those who generate the crises must assume the consequences of these things and act politically as they see fit”said the head of the Executive, on Europa FM
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister had an almost 2-hour meeting with President Nicușor Dan. According to our information, the meeting would have focused on topics related to executive priorities, but especially the tensions within the governing coalition.
Grindeanu> “Romania urgently needs a reset”
Also on Wednesday, Sorin Grindeanu launched new harsh criticisms of the government, warning of a sharp deterioration in economic indicators. At the same time, the PSD leader requested an “urgent reset” of government policies.
“Three bad news for the economy show us clearly and concretely why Romania urgently needs a reset to change the current wrong direction of the country. Inflation in March reached 10%. Consumption collapsed completely in February, for the seventh month in a row. And the International Monetary Fund halved Romania’s economic growth forecast – to only 0.7%”Grindeanu said in a post on Facebook.
