“A major political mistake”: the Rector of SNSPA criticizes the PSD-AUR initiative, which risks deepening the current government crisis

The Rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, warns that PSD’s initiative to submit a censure motion alongside AUR represents “a major political mistake”, which risks deepening the current government crisis.

In a public post, Pricopie claims that PSD’s association with a party he characterizes as extremist and anti-Western significantly complicates the prospects of getting out of the political deadlock.

“After such a vote against the government led by Ilie Bolojan, it will be much more difficult to rebuild a clear, coherent and credible pro-Western majority”, sent the SNSPA rector, in a post on Facebook.

He believes that the only viable solution is the urgent resumption of the dialogue between the parties that formed the current government — PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the group of national minorities.

“Politics means negotiation and compromise, namely the ability to build agreements between divergent interests, within the limits of democratic rules and legitimacy”, pointed out Pricopie.

In his opinion, maintaining Romania’s pro-Western direction cannot be achieved through “conjunctural alliances” with AUR, but through political responsibility and the rapid restoration of a functional majority in Parliament.

PSD and AUR announced on Monday, April 27, that they will submit a joint censure motion against the Bolojan Government. The social democratic leaders met from 14:00 to discuss the details of the motion.
