The judges gave a new decision in the case in which the businessman Georgică Cornu is involved with the presenter Marina Almășan, with whom the businessman had a long relationship.
The magistrates of the 1st District Court decided to reject in full the requests and exceptions invoked by Georgică Cornu in the trial with Marina Almășan, considering them unfounded.
At the same time, the judges decided that the trial with Marina Almășan can go on, the trial being ordered to begin.
“On the basis of Article 345 paragraph (1) and (2) Penal Code, it rejects the requests and exceptions invoked by the defendant Cornu Georgică, as unfounded. On the basis of Article 346 paragraph (2) Penal Code related to Article 342 of the Penal Code, it finds that the District 1 Court of Bucharest is competent to resolve this case, as well as the legality of the referral to the court with the indictment issued in the file no. 8420/P/2024 of the District Court of Bucharest, for the administration of the evidence and the execution of the criminal proceedings, according to article 345 of the Penal Code, orders the communication of the present decision to the injured person and the prosecutor. With the right to appeal within 3 days from the communication of the conclusion. Pronounced in the meeting in the council chamber, today, 30.04.2026”. it is stated in the decision of the magistrates.
Georgică Cornu was sent to court on the merits for the crime of violating the protection order issued at that time for Marina Almășan, the businessman from Timisoara being forced to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.
Marina Almășan announced in 2024 that she broke up with Timișoara businessman Georgică Cornu, with whom she had a love relationship for 12 years. He, however, says the TVR star, continued to harass her with phone calls and even monitor her home.
