CFR Cluj kicks the title, after a lamentable evolution. Craiova plays the “final” of the championship next stage

With a victory against the University of Craiova, CFR Cluj would have dynamited the fight for the title, approaching only two points from the leader. The Transylvanians were the epitome of politeness in an all-or-nothing match and, surprisingly, they went for the second option, so they were out of contention for the championship. The Oltenians take the big exam next week, at home, with Cluj University, the only team that can practically overcome them and take the title.

In Gruia, it was 0-0, after a game in which only one shot was sent on goal. If in the case of Craiova it is understandable, the “Jews” coming not to lose, in the case of the CFR, the evolution was inexplicable. Daniel Pancu’s students played without a sound and without any effort, settling for a point that does not help them at all.

The two teams risked very little in this match and annihilated each other, the goal opportunities being very rare. The people of Cluj had the biggest chance of the game, in min. 49, when Tidiane Keita shot from 22 meters into the bar. In the 51st minute, Adrian Rus blocked Cordea’s shot with his elbow, the phase was analyzed by the video referee, but in the end no penalty was awarded, because he was offside in a previous phase, to Lorenzo Biliboc.

Craiova University, which did not send a single shot on goal in this match, was seen with the bags in the cart. With two stages before the end of the season, it has 4 points in front of Cluj University (which still has to play in this stage with Rapid) and 5 in front of CFR Cluj. A victory in the next round, with the students from Cluj, would secure the title for the Oltenians.

On May 13, U Cluj and Craiova University will play the final of the Romanian Cup, in Sibiu. Three days later, the two teams will meet in a decisive match for the Superliga title.
