Traian Băsescu, vehement reaction to the political crisis: “Some amateurs of poor quality”. What does it say about the version of a technocrat prime minister

“Each one sets his own conditions, that is, the president has his Constitution, the PNL has his Constitution, the PSD has his Constitution. None of them have the Constitution of Romania in mind. They don’t care, simply some bad quality shipowners, who are burying this country, thinking they can afford to add to the Constitution. In reality, we are in the situation of a fallen government, for reasons that no longer matter. The government, from a constitutional point of view, has fallen. Presidents are obliged to consult”said the former president on B1 TV.

He stated of these that “they are all scumbags, who each have a Constitution” and that “no one has the Constitution of Romania in their hand when they speak”.

“So, these gentlemen who are playing with their own Constitution must know that they are preparing to sabotage Romania”added Traian Băsescu.

What does it say about the version of a technocrat prime minister

He also explained that the option of a technocrat prime minister is not a solution because he will not have any power.

“The technocrat story is, let me say, I don’t want to offend anyone, nonsense that people who have no experience or pretend to have no experience are advocating. You can’t put a technocrat at the top of a government to do what? To go from the headquarters to the party headquarters, to talk to the party presidents, to ask them to pass an act to him”, Traian Băsescu also declared.

On Monday, May 18, President Nicușor Dan organized an extensive round of consultations at the Cotroceni Palace with parties and parliamentary political formations in order to appoint the candidate for the position of prime minister. At the end of the consultations, the head of state called for responsibility, asking the parties to show a solid and pro-Western majority capable of supporting the new Executive.
