President Nicușor Dan announced that he participated on Tuesday in a video conference with the leaders of the European states from the “Friends of Competitiveness” group, organized before the summer European Council next week, in Brussels.
According to the head of state, the discussions focused on the competitiveness of the European economy, energy and how the transition to a greener economy can be continued.
“The transition to a greener economy must be done in a realistic way that protects both the environment and the economy. It is important to reduce carbon emissions, but without putting excessive pressure on companies and energy prices“, Nicușor Dan transmitted.
The President emphasized that Romania has important energy resources, including natural gas and nuclear energy, which can contribute to the energy security of the country and Europe.
He also showed that faster investments are needed in the European energy infrastructure, so that energy can circulate more efficiently between the member states.
According to Nicușor Dan, the common objectives of the participating states are a better integrated Single Market, the relaunch of European industries and the strengthening of the strategic autonomy of the European Union.
“We want a strong and competitive European Union that creates well-being for its citizens. A prosperous Union means a prosperous Romania“, the president also sent.
