Last minute change in the program of the Sibiu International Theater Festival. The show “Electra”, directed by Mihai Măniuțiu, will replace “The unique story of Abul Hossein the Yemenite and his flight into the desert”, directed by Silviu Purcărete, in the program of the edition that starts on Friday, June 19, in Sibiu.
The show “Electra” will have two performances scheduled during FITS 2026, on June 21, from 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The change in the program was decided following an injury to one of the actors playing a leading role in the show “The Uncanny Story of Abul Hossein the Yemenite and his Desert Flight”, which makes it impossible to present the production at FITS.
The choice of the show “Electra” in the FITS 2026 program was also supported by the remarkable success that the production enjoyed in the last year in Japan, at the World Exhibition Expo 2025 Osaka and at the Antalya Theater Festival in Turkey, where it was enthusiastically received by the public and specialists.
Spectators who purchased tickets online for performances of the show “The Unique Story of Abul Hossein the Yemenite and his Flight into the Desert” will automatically receive their equivalent value on the card with which they made the purchase. For tickets purchased at physical points of sale, the refund will be made at the Theater Agency in Sibiu.

Sibiu International Theater Festival (FITS),
one of the largest and most important performing arts festivals in the world, takes place this year in Sibiu from June 19 to June 28, the theme of the 33rd edition being SOUL. The FITS 2026 program includes 848 events and awaits more than 5000 artists from 83 countries.
