The UDMR does not want to vote for the government either. Hunor awaits the withdrawal of Tomac SOURCES

UDMR leaders had several discussions in the party in which they came to the conclusion that the Tomac Government has no chance of passing the Parliament’s vote, political sources claim for Adevărul.

The Hungarian formation was waiting for the vote from within the USR: if the USR had decided to vote for the government, the UDMR would also have allied itself with Tomac. But the USR rejected the Tomac government with an internal vote of over 90%. Under these conditions, the only party that remained with the designated prime minister is PSD.

Officially, the UDMR will announce on Monday whether it votes for the government or not, after Eugen Tomac sends the list of ministers and the government program to the Parliament. Unofficially, UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor is waiting for Eugen Tomac to withdraw from the race, given that the chances of getting a majority are very low, claim the cited sources.

The Political Committee of the Save Romania Union (USR) decided on Friday, June 12, in an online meeting, not to support the investiture of the Government led by Eugen Tomac.

“Our conclusion is that a technocratic government would be dysfunctional for one simple reason: the fact that no one is truly accountable for decisions will not end the crisis, but only deepen the chaos”explained President Dominic Fritz, after the meeting.

The decision came a day after the leadership of the National Liberal Party met in a meeting of the National Political Bureau, to decide whether or not to support the Government proposed by Eugen Tomac. The decision was unanimous: PNL will not support the investiture of the Executive proposed by the designated prime minister.

“A government without political support can only hope for survival. A government without political and parliamentary support is weaker than a minority government. Given that such a government will come with a measure, as there are many of those that any government that comes will have to put into practice, as a result of the deficits, the commitments that Romania has and our economic situation, which will be difficult to assume, this government will remain alone because no one will support it”said Ilie Bolojan after the BPN meeting.

The government proposed by Eugen Tomac seems to have less and less chance of obtaining the necessary support, according to the statements of the main political leaders. For now, the political formations have drawn clear red lines, but avoid saying which form of government they would support next. The list of difficulties is expanding, more and more of the people circulated for ministerial positions announcing that they refuse to be nominated.
