FCSB lost one of the leaders of the dressing room, after Darius Olaru was transferred to Royal Union, in Belgium, in exchange for 3 million euros. The transfer marks the end of a cycle of six years spent in the red-blue shirt, during which the midfielder contributed to winning two championship titles, the Romanian Cup and two Supercups.
Having reached the age of 26 and trained at Gaz Metan Mediaș, Olaru is now taking the step towards his first experience outside the country, at an important moment in his career.
The amount collected by FCSB propels the international into the top of the most valuable departures in the history of the club in the Gigi Becali era, where he occupies a place in the top ten. At the top of the ranking remains Dennis Man, transferred to Parma for 12.6 million euros, followed by names such as Nicu Stanciu and Vlad Chiricheș.

Becali collected over 125 million euros from transfers
The club patronized by Gigi Becali has collected over 125 million euros from transfers, since taking over the team in 2003 until now.
The most profitable year from this point of view was the 2016-2017 season, when over 18 million euros from transfers entered the club’s accounts. The most important move was the departure of Nicu Stanciu to Anderlecht, for 11 million euros, to which were added the transfers of Alexandru Chipciu, Fernando Varela, Alin Toșca and Jugurtha Hamroun. These deals made that season the most productive in the club’s history in terms of player sales.
