The Rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, stated on Friday, June 26, that the question “The Muresan Government or the Grindeanu Government?” is a wrong one, claiming that President Nicușor Dan did not ask for competing variants of government, but a common solution supported by the pro-European parties.
“The Muresan Government or the Grindeanu Government? I think this is the wrong question. We’ve all been following the political dynamics this week. On Monday, the Vestea government formula fell. On Tuesday, President Nicușor Dan came up with a requirement as clear as possible: the pro-European parties find a common governing solution, agreed through a written political agreement.
Instead of a common formula, two competing proposals emerged. Yesterday, PSD advanced the version of a government led by Sorin Grindeanu. Today, PNL, USR and UDMR responded with the Siegfried Mureșan version”stated the SNSPA rector in a post on Facebook.
Remus Pricopie believes that the “Grindeanu or Muresan” debate is wrong, claiming that Nicușor Dan is not looking to choose between two competing options for premiership.
“He asked for the exact opposite: a common solution, supported by parties that say they share the same democratic and pro-European orientation.
Nicușor Dan tries to find a solution within the limits of his constitutional powers. But let’s not forget that the responsibility of forming a parliamentary majority and a functional government belongs primarily to the political parties. They have to prove that they can build, not just that they can compete”
The Rector of SNSPA hopes that before the meeting at 18:00, in Cotroceni, “that all political actors should put aside their pride and remember what was, in fact, the “homework”.
“Not to determine who wins the confrontation, but how to find a collaboration formula together. This is exactly what the President of Romania asked of them.”
On Friday, the leaders of PNL, USR and UDMR confirmed their support for Siegfried Mureșan.
“The PNL ended a few minutes ago the meeting of the National Political Bureau, during which it voted to support Siegfried Mureșan. (…) Siegfried Mureșan is a man attached to European values and I considered that for the next period he represents a solution for Romania”, declared Ilie Bolojan, the PNL leader, on Friday.
Siegfried Muresan, also present, thanked for the trust given.
Later, the social democrats, who proposed Sorin Grindeanu as prime minister, accused the right-wing parties of deliberately sabotaging the process of forming the new government.
“Today’s announcement by the right-wing parties regarding the support of a joint prime minister – without having a solid parliamentary majority behind it – is a new attempt to invent conditions designed to make it impossible to form a Government with full powers”, transmit PSD.
