On Sunday, the Ministry of Education published the final results of the summer session of the Baccalaureate 2026, after the evaluation of the appeals was completed, and now the picture is complete: 97,020 graduates managed to obtain the passing average, while 29,084 candidates were declared rejected.

The final pass rate, across all promotions, increased by 2.1 percent compared to the initial results, reaching 76.9%, a significant improvement after the correction of contested papers. These figures confirm both the efforts made by the majority of students and the persistent discrepancies between the current graduating class and those who previously attempted to obtain the baccalaureate diploma.

Of the total of those passed, 92,502 candidates come from the current promotion, which represents a success rate of 81.6%, a percentage that shows that most of this year’s high school graduates have successfully passed the matriculation exam. In contrast, of the candidates from the previous promotions, only 4,518 managed to pass, the success rate being only 35.1%, a signal that the difficulties encountered by those who did not take the baccalaureate on the first attempt are considerable. Most averages obtained by the candidates were in the 9-9.49 range, with a number of 16,704 graduates who achieved exceptional performance, and 70 of them completed the written tests with the maximum average, 10. Cluj County stands out as the area with the highest pass rate, once again confirming its tradition as a high-performing university center.

The final results for Bac 2026 have been published

The publication of the final results marks the official end of the summer session and gives each graduate the certainty of their status: passed or failed. The appeals process brought a positive adjustment of 2.1%, which proves that some of the papers initially graded more harshly have been correctly regraded, and tens of thousands of young people can now receive their diploma which opens the doors to higher education or the job market.

However, the figure of 29,084 rejected remains a worrying one, and for these candidates, as well as for those who did not appear for all the tests, there is a new stage with strict deadlines, which gives them a second chance in the autumn session.

Although the overall average at the national level has increased, there remain large differences between the counties, and Cluj leads by far in this performance top, which raises questions about the factors that influence success – from the quality of teaching and material resources to the level of motivation of students and the support received from families.

Instead, the 70 averages out of 10 are proof that the Romanian education system can still produce peaks.

For those who failed to pass the exam, the calendar approved by the Ministry of Education provides for a quick succession of deadlines, so that no graduate is left without a new opportunity to obtain the baccalaureate.

When can candidates register for the fall session

Graduates who did not pass the baccalaureate in the summer session or who did not appear for all the tests can register for the second session starting on Tuesday, July 14, and the registration period extends until July 21. The files can be submitted not only by those who failed in the summer, but also by the graduates who have passed the corrigencia exams in the meantime and who now meet the conditions for taking the national exam.

The assessment of oral communication skills in Romanian is scheduled for August 3 and 4, and for those who have studied in a language of national minorities, the mother tongue test takes place on August 4 and 5. The digital skills assessment is set for August 5 and 6, and the language skills test in an internationally spoken language will take place on August 6 and 7. Although these tests are mandatory, they are not marked with numerical qualifications and do not influence the final average, but only certify the candidate’s level of knowledge.

The written tests of the autumn session begin on August 10 with the Romanian language and literature exam, followed the next day, August 11, by the mandatory profile test, and on August 12 the candidates take the test of their choice of profile and specialization. For graduates who studied in a language of national minorities, the last written test, that of the native language and literature, is scheduled for August 13, thus ending the series of written exams. The first results of these tests will be displayed on August 18, until 12:00, and on the same day, between 14:00 and 18:00, candidates will be able to view their papers and submit appeals.

The process of consulting the works and filing appeals continues on August 19 and 20, and their resolution is scheduled for the same dates, August 20 and 21. Finally, the final results of the July-August 2026 session will be published on August 24, with the official end of the second session of the national baccalaureate exam.
